WAR ZONE EVENT SETUP FORM (For approved regional directors only)

Once you’ve submitted your WAR Zone Event Setup Form, familiarize yourself with your responsbilities on the day of the event: How to Run a WAR Zone Wrestling Competition (for tournament directors)

Pricing:

Running a War Zone is the easiest way to give high quality matches to wrestlers. As the tournament director you choose how much you want to charge competitors; this money is yours to keep. We make our money by charging our users an annual fee of $10 to be in the WAR Zone system. The only charge to tournament directors is $30/hour while the tournament is running and a 3.5% credit card transaction fee. We hope to help you raise a lot of money for your team!

What is the WAR Zone Rapid Pairing Software?

How WAR Zone provides wrestlers with 5-6 matches in 2 hours:

Do people like it?

Why WAR Zone Wrestling Competitions provide a better overall experience than traditional tournaments:

Events run much faster – The tournament director has the flexibility to determine how long people stay at the event. We suggest a 2 hour window, from arriving to leaving, but you can choose exactly how long you want competitors to stay, and the average number of matches they will be able to complete.

Kids wrestle in more matches – It is easy to get all wrestlers 4-6 quality matches, in less than 2 hours. We surveyed 174 wrestling parents, 94% would like to see their kids wrestle in at least 5 matches at a wrestling tournament!

Because WAR Zone is safe for beginners (and great for experts too), more kids consistently compete at events. WAR Zone opens up the beginner market: this is where all of the potential for growth lies.

Leaderboard scoring keeps teams and individuals wrestling more. It’s a race to win the most matches, and score the most points for your team.

Challenge Matches – The ability to challenge any wrestler is one of the most desirable features for wrestling parents. Many Dads/Moms want to control when their child gets the easier/tougher match. Challenge matches are put into the queue and dispatched in a timely fashion, without causing any extra work for the tournament director. [This functionality is not yet available, but will be released in 2021]

A better overall experience draws more competitors: WAR Zone events grow.

WAR Zone events grow faster than other wrestling competitions because of the Network Effect.

As the number of competitors increase, the quality of the matchups increase.

With 2 wrestlers, there is only 1 potential matchup:

With 5 wrestlers there are 10 potential matchups:

With 12 wrestlers there are 66 potential matchups:

With 5,000 wrestlers there are 12,497,500 potential matchups… More wrestlers means a better experience for everyone. The more wrestlers, the higher the quality of matchups, and the shorter the wait time after requesting a match.

No more weight cutting!

There is no benefit to cutting weight because there are no weight classes. Wrestlers will compete in tailor-made matchups for their age, weight, and skill. Losing weight will not give you a competitive advantage.

No more bracketing!

Trying to bracket wrestlers into appropriate age, skill, and weight divisions is time consuming and frustrating. It often causes a tournament to run slowly. If a kid doesn’t make weight, it is a headache that slows down the event. WAR Zone creates matchups one at a time, and is completely effortless for the tournament director. There is no bracketing! Matches just pop up and are dispatched to mats automatically. We handle the matchmaking for you. We want to grow wrestling participation. If we can get more children involved in wrestling, everyone benefits. The best way to grow is to provide more opportunities for beginners, and to help local programs fundraise.

We want to help grow wrestling in your region! We will support clubs, help fundraise, do wide-scale marketing, and get more kids involved in wrestling. If you would like to bring WAR Zone to your region, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/YPE8sVfK2uxq5Uf4A

The WAR Zone Process:

1) An approved tournament director fills out the form at /bring-war-zone-region/ This will give us all the information we need to setup the event.

2) Registration is opened and information is posted on www.WellRunTournaments.com

3) Estimated start times are posted at www.WellRunTournaments.com, these start times change (and become more accurate) as more people register.

4) The evening before the event begins, start times are finalized. All competitors are emailed their exact arrival/finish times. We can still accept late registrations and walk-ins, but will charge a premium (Walk-ins don’t delay the start of the event. Having few walk-ins won’t be noticeable, but too many will cause longer wait times between matches).

5) On the day of the event, table workers will login to www.WrestlingRating.com with staff accounts on their cellphones, laptops, or tablets. They will be responsible for telling which wrestlers to step on the mat next, keeping score/time, and entering the results into our system. We do not provide scoreboards/timers; you can use flip-scores and timers (simplest), digital scoreboards, or https://scorecounter.com

6) A staff member will handle weigh-ins. Small groups of competitors will arrive in weight-order every 15 minutes throughout the day. Each group will be eligible to wrestle for 2 hours (I recommend 2 hours for the first WAR Zone).

7) We will open mat 1 once there are a few wrestlers ready to begin wrestling. We will open up additional mats as competitors arrive, keeping a ratio of 15 wrestlers/mat (this ratio leads to the optimal waiting time in my experience). The pairings master will begin generating bouts (wrestlers will receive text message notification when it’s their turn to wrestle).

8) After 2 hours we reach maximum capacity, at this point competitors are arriving and leaving at the same rate. Competitors who are checking out can collect their awards.

9) The heaviest wrestler (the last weigh-in) will occur 2 hours before the event will finish. We will now wind-down, and close mats at the same pace with which we opened them.

10) The few remaining heavyweights complete wrestling on mat 1. The event ends, most of the cleanup is already done.
